I will be running PC lapcounter to control my 3 lane 124 Scalextric layout I am building (using dead strips).

PCL will be on an HP laptop, no remote keyboard or mouse.

Would like to install at least one, possibly two 'remote' track call buttons that turn marshals could use during a race.

Can anyone describe how to wire that to PCL, or direct me to a thread where it may have already been discussed?

Thanks
Todd

hello,

You can use phidget interface 0/16/16 or 8/8/8 , there is a exemple here: http://pclapcounter.winnerbb.net/t1277-schema-to-connect-external-button-to-phidget,  more information on phidget interface and Pc lap Counter here: http://www.pclapcounter.be/phidget_interface.html

You can also use Arduino board but it's a little bit more complicated because you need to make some programmation: http://www.pclapcounter.be/arduino.html

I do indeed use a phidgett. I THINK this is helpful, but if I read his schematic correctly, the track switch is simply wired in the power line between the power source and the phidgett? I guess I still do not understand how PC Lapcounter is 'told' to stop the heat count down when the circuit is interrupted, and how it starts again when the circuit is closed.

Not saying I'd do it, it doesn't address the functionality of a remote track call button, but wouldn't simply turning the power supply on and off do the same thing?
