PostSubject: No brakes Scalextric digital   18/1/2018, 08:14

I cannot find the answer on the forum so far.
I almost have no brakes (only) at the end of main straight, but only if I have activated PCLC after start race. Whether in practice mode or race mode. I have a X lane change in the straight. And I have arduino pitstop with sensors.
I thought it had to do with fuel management, but it also appears when fuel management is turned off.
Brakes working fine if I only turn on power with the power On button and if I switch off PCLC and use the C7042 with the standard small screen.
Anybody?

Hello,
did you tried to put the brake strength of the driver to "HARD" ? (in the driver settings windows, tab page C7042).
You will find more information on the settings for C7042 on this page http://www.pclapcounter.be/scalextric_digital_c7042.html

Thanks Guy, for your reply.
Yes I did all that. The strange thing is the problem only appears before that specific corner, just after the X lane change.
Could it be the blank spot in the X-LC and then the braking?
But as I mentioned before it happens only after "start new Race"

Hi Guy,

Just pulled out the X-LC for normal track....result the same. Unbelievable!
I've run out of possibilities now.
Anymore suggestions?

Sorry to bother you but it seems to be the power after the "Start new Race"

So it happen during all the race but only when you start the race with a count down ?
Also, did you use dynamic brake ?
Which version of Pc Lap Counter you use ?

Dynamic brake mean automatically apply brake when the throotle going to level 0.
At the end of main straight it could be that your throttle not going to level 0 and so you don't have brake. In the SSDA6 interface of Pc Lap Counter there is a option called "Non zero throttle begin at", i suggest you to play with this option and see if it's better or not.

Well Guy,

Thank you for your help so far, but
I am really desperate now.
I've tried everything I could think of. Even 1 power base and changing them. Change the track and so on.
The zero throttle adjustments have an effect(the bigger the number the more the throttle is an on and off switch) but the cars are still uncontrollable. I drive 6,8 seconds with the timing on and 5,8 seconds without, with the same car. Several cars have broken pieces now. Could it be the place of the timing sensors just before the braking point?
Still everything works really fine without PCLC timing.
I love your program but for me it is not working so far.
Does the program interfere with the track power at some point?

Sure the program interfere with the track power , when you connect the powerbase C7042 to the computer then it is computer who control the throttle level, the brake and LC.
For example when you press the throttle then the throttle value is sent by the powerbase to the computer and the computer sent back the throttle value to apply.
So for example, for the child we set max power to 50% , it mean when the powerbase send throttle level 50 to the computer then the software will send throttle 25 to the powerbase.
Because it's the software who control the powerbase it could be that you didn't setup PCLC like you setup the powerbase via the tower. In the driver setting did you activate throttle map ? , if no then i suggest you to activate and try with the default value and also put the "zero throttle" back to 1

Hello Guy,

It looks like my problem is solved.
I changed the track by moving the time keeping sensors more to the beginning of the straight.

It seems like the computer/PCLC combination could not handle the time registration just before XLC and the braking zone together.
I don't have uncontrollable cars anymore!!!

Thanks for your help and braining.

Going for top lap times now.

Guy,

Sorry to bother you again.
I seem to be too fast with my solution.
The effect is less because I moved the timing track further back on the straight , but the effect is still there after the start finish track.
What does the PCLC program do when cars pass the timing sensors?
It is still only there after the countdown.

Harm
