PostSubject: Wierd Times after Rotating out [Fixed v5.06]   21/3/2010, 00:30

Were seeing very LLLOONNGG times after a segment rotation.

Example:

Racer races lanes 2, 3, 4, 5, & 6, but then rotates out so other drivers can come in (More then 6 drivers on a 6 lane track)
His first lap time in lane 1 when he comes back in is normally 2+ hours.... and after every track pause it will also be 2+ hours. This is not an issue for counting laps, but messes up the average lap time calculation.

Were still seeing this... now they are showing real short (Under minimum) (Minimum was set for 11.5 sec, showing some 2 second laps). Lap counts, no problem, but it throws a monkey wrench in the fuel usage (Average fuel use for this race was .9L per lap) these 2 second laps depleted 20L in one shot!

This happens when you have more drivers then lanes, only to the people who have to "Sit out" for a while after they start in the first heat and cycle out. Also, maybe related, "time on Track" for these racers is very high.

Example:
12 Racers, 6 Lanes
Rotation is 123456
Drivers ABCDEFGHIJKL

Heat 1: ABCDEF
Heat 2: LABCDE
Heat 3: KLABCD
Heat 4: JKLABC
Heat 5: IJKLAB
Heat 6: HIJKLA
Heat 7: GHIJKL
Heat 8: FGHIJK *
Heat 9: EFGHIJ *
Heat 10: DEFGHI *
Heat 11: CDEFGH *
Heat 12: BCDEFG *

Problems occur for drivers BCDEF in heats 8-12
After each restart it measures the time from "GO" to when they break the sensor beam, and not time from their last beam break to their next beam break. This is where we see these short laps.

Lets say driver F finishes heat 1 about 2 seconds from making his next lap (2 Seconds before the light bridge, 8 seconds after he went thru the light bridge for his previous lap, lets call this "Mile Marker 8" (10 mile marker track)). His car position is marked where it stops on lane 6 and his car is taken out until Heat 8. At Heat 8, his car is placed into lane 1 at mile marker 8. The heat is started and Driver F's time for his first lap is recorded as 2 seconds (minimum lap time was set to 9 seconds) and the driver's fuel is penalized because he pulled a 2 second lap. The system does not take into account that the driver had already driven 8 seconds into a lap the last time he was on the track, heat 1. This will continue to happen to Driver F in heats 9, 10, 11, & 12. This also effects drivers BCD&E during these heats.

Make sense? Any Thoughts?

I will make a test this week but i immediately think about the false start option: did the option "detect false start also during restart" is ticked ?
Also , you will be so kind to specify which version of Pc Lap Counter you use Question Question

Edit: other question:
- In the options screen , tab page "detection" , what's the value of the option "Reject laps less than " ?

I test it and it's work fine.
Could be that your hardware send bad lap detection ? (you should see messages)
In Pc Lap Counter the very first lap of a heat is special: minimum lap time of the options screen is used BUT the minimum lap time of the track setting is NOT used and therefore in your case i suggest you set the "reject lap less than" also to 9 seconds and see if it solve your problem.
